"Democrats tout Medicare as their model for a government-run health care system, bragging about what an extremely popular government program it is.

Medicare is tens of trillions of dollars in the red. It is expected to go bankrupt by 2017. In order to pay for Medicare alone, the government will either have to cut every other federal program in existence, or raise federal income taxes to rates as high as 77 percent.

Medicare is like a $500 hamburger: I assume it's good -- it had better be -- but no one would say, "THAT'S A FANTASTIC SUCCESS!"

Until 10 minutes ago, the liberal argument for national health care was that it wasn't fair that some people -- "the rich" -- have access to better health care than others.

In liberals' ideal world, everyone lives in abject poverty and stands in long lines, but we all live in the same abject poverty and stand in the same long lines -- just like in their beloved Soviet Union of recent memory! (Except the commissars, who get excellent health care, food, housing, maid service and no lines.)

Instead of being honest and telling us that their plan is to make health care worse and more expensive -- but fairer! -- liberals have recently begun claiming that providing universal health care will actually save money. Overnight, they went from wailing about basic human needs being "more important than bombs" to claiming: "Our plan will be cheaper!"

Hmmm, I didn't make any notes to debate the manifestly insane points. But I'm pretty sure that extending full medical benefits to 30 million people who don't currently have them -- 47 million once the federal health commission rules that illegal aliens are covered -- will not be less expensive than the current system.

I am in debt, I have been pulling back and spending less. I know when to quit.....the government is in debt....they need to do the same thing! That is what I expect, if I can do it, they can do it. I expect nothing more, nothing less.....quit SPENDING!!!!!

A United States Marine was taking some college courses between assignments. He had completed 20 missions in Iraq and Afghanistan . One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist, and a member of the ACLU.


One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, GOD if you are real then I want you to knock me off this platform.. I'll give you exactly 15 min.' The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, 'Here I am GOD, I'm still waiting.'


It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.

The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently.

The other students were shocked and stunned, and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, "What in the world is the matter with you? 'Why did you do that?" The Marine calmly replied, "GOD was too busy today protecting America's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So He sent me."


The classroom erupted in cheers!

Thankful....

Thankful we live in a country that is free.....
Thankful we have men and women who are fighting and have fought so we can be free......
Even so people who spout hurtful and stupid remarks have a right to do so......they have no idea how lucky they are to live in a country that gives them freedom of speech and that they have fellow Americans who would give their lives so they can.....

Government run health care....the more they try to sell it, the scarier it gets! What don't we get? Nothing is free. We will all pay a hefty price for this......and we have no say in the matter. Choose Your Words Wisely

We need to choose our words wisely.....I have been thinking about this alot lately, after seeing Sean Combs(also known as P Diddy, Sean John, etc.) on Oprah. I haven't seen Oprah in months but happened to watch when he was on. He is a rap artist, and Oprah talked to him about using the "N" word. He found nothing wrong with it, that it tells a story about his history and black history. Oprah on the other hand found it very offensive. It is hurtful to her when she hears it...of course, when she was growing up this was a mean and racist word. It still is. Especially in a world where she is working hard to eliminate racism. I take her side, not because I'm old school, but because I think we need to progress....move forward. I hear kids saying this word all over the place. White kids in white neighborhoods....because they listen to the music. Kids of all colors hear it and repeat it.....It's dangerous and offensive. They say it one place and no one pays attention, they say it in the wrong place....and it could be deadly. It's time to think before we speak, if people want respect, they need to earn it with their words and actions.

Educate Yourselves!

I got several email comments from many of you regarding the "whine flu".....haha. It's funny, but all of us suffer a case of this every so often! Some of us more than others.... But here's the deal. We have the right to whine if we are truly doing the right thing, leading productive lives, giving back to society, obeying the law, etc. But, we have NO right to whine if we are not. AND, we have NO right to whine about the state of our country if....we did not vote, we do not campaign for our nominees, and if we do not EDUCATE ourselves about what is actually going on out there! We must educate, investigate, and participate! I am thinking of posting a "word of the day" so we can all get a little educated..... a political word....one that I will find a the definition for......and see if we can't become a little bit more in tune to what the heck is happening to this great country...stay tunned! Maybe I'll start with "whinning"......

Okay, I think the Obama administration is now up to 40 plus Czars. The rationale for creating “Czar” positions is that such individuals can assist in helping run the government. Done well, this can demonstrate an administration's higher level of interest and dedication to an issue. But this ceases to be true when these "positions" become so commonplace that it’s hard to see where ordinary bureaucracy ends and the extraordinary begins. At over 40, giving the current administration more Czars than Imperial Russia had in its history. We have a Mideast Peace Czar and a Mideast Policy Czar, a Sudan Czar and a Guantanamo Closure Czar. There’s a Green Jobs Czar (oops, no more don't forget Van Jones), here's a good one, Charlie Rangel the Ways and Means Czar.....in trouble for not paying his own taxes, a Pay Czar and an Energy Czar, an Urban Affairs Czar, Technology Czar, and even a Great Lakes Czar. Thankfully, there’s also an Information Czar. As they say, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. The list goes on and on, you have to scratch your head and ask if perhaps we should re-think this approach. Instead of constantly creating new positions to coordinate our government's activities, wouldn't it make more sense to figure out how to let our elected officials figure this stuff out and wouldn't that better for the taxpayer?
I'm not the expert on this, but what is the average salary for these guys? And what if they don't agree with the people who were actually elected to work on all these issues? Who has final word? Good Grief, maybe I can become the Fragrance Czar.......Or better yet, maybe NBC can start a new show...Dancing with the Czars....and David Letterman can host.

RUSH: No, it makes total sense that she would think what she thinks because the culture she's immersed herself in, academia, is teaching her this stuff.

RUSH: Has this conversion held? Does she still get it now that you've explained it to her.

What a week.....the UN rounded up every thug they could find and let them all speak on public TV...... Can somebody tell me why? These people care nothing about their own people let alone us....they come in and lie and pretend they want nuclear plants for electricity and medicine.......yea, right. For years we've been watching Iran get closer and closer to nuclear weapons. We threaten them with sanctions, they don't care. They are on a mission. I read a scary article today on National Review Online " Despite the president’s praise of the UN, trashing of the previous administration, and grandiose proclamations that we are back on the Human Rights Council, there is little international concern over Iran. A few nations walked out during Ahmadinejad’s rant, but most delegates stayed glued to their seats. Russia and China — the former recently appeased by the missile deal, the latter recently rebuffed with the tire tariff — are flush with cash and enjoy the notion that Iran bothers us more than it does them; they have not yet been hope-and-changed into helping Obama with his grand vision on the grounds that he is not Bush. Some look at our president and see a messiah; these two see a rookie in charge of a now-bankrupt country with $2-trillion-a-year deficits that is unsure what to do in two wars and in dire need of both imported oil and trillions in cash. In short, there is nothing the international community can or will do about Iran’s road to a small arsenal of nukes. What would work — an ironclad international boycott and embargo of Iran’s oil exports and gasoline imports — is beyond Western statecraft. In this new Obama era of morally equivalent multiculturalism, we have no desire to stand for human rights and support the Iranian opposition in any meaningful way; and as for trying to appease either the Muslim world or Russia and China in hopes of getting help from them — well, no comment on that."
Does anyone really believe Iran has no interest in creating a nuclear bomb? Where is the common sense, I'm not CIA, FBI, or a Politician in Washington, but I do know this.....IRAN is not to be trusted, get a grip people, open your eyes, better yet, get some common sense!

We're not flowers stupid.....

Don't know why, but I have been thinking about this lately. I used to have a poster in the 70's, during high school. Cute little hippie thing, it read, "If flowers grow in Peace, Why can't we?"
I had this very liberal sociology teacher, and very cute and cool. He would let us bring in posters to class and hang them on the wall. Of course, I brought in my little flower power one. So proud to see it hanging there everyday. Well one day my friend and I were admiring all the posters...and there is was, my first graffiti experience! Some awful person had written in pen underneath "because we're not flowers stupid!" Can you imagine? How rude! Funny thing is, I think about that little poster every so often....especially when I see people protesting the war. I hate war, we all do. "Flowers grow in peace, why can't we? But guess what? He was right, we're not flowers stupid.....

Politicians or Rock Stars?

I heard an interesting quote today,
"Liberals want to become politicians for the same reasons teenagers want to become rock stars".....kind of rude, I'm sure many of them want to serve the people.....but then I began thinking about all the speeches I've seen President Obama give on TV this week.....and then I saw him on Letterman last night...hmmmmmmm. Food for thought.

Let's all have a baby, or 2 or 3 or 4....

Okay, Babies are great. And lot's of people out there have them, whites, blacks, Hispanic, single people, married, people, divorced people...everyone has circumstances....each and everyone is in a unique place. But sometimes you just have to quit being politically correct! Some people are so IRRESPONSIBLE it is crazy. Lil' Wayne. A rapper to those of you who have no idea. A single 20 something rapper (quite popular and successful). He as a daughter about 9 or 11 (can't remember) Another child 5 or 6 ish (can't remember) He just had a baby this week....how cute. Oh, and did I mention, another one due next month. How? You ask? If he just had one this week how can he have another one next month?
4 kids, 4 different moms.....that's how. NO responsibility! Don't anyone try to defend this guy.....can you say condom?
I'm sure his parents are so proud, and what a great example to all the kids who buy his music........

That's what this country is about, freedom of speech....freedom, its a good thing. Whether you agree with them or not.....
Makes me realize, if your are not happy about something, do something about it, quit complaining.....they did. Maybe next time....

Can it be that we have not learned anything.....Thomas Paine knew it way back, he warned us then, did nobody listen? Talk about government in every corner and crevice.....banking, auto, health, housing, I know, if they want to control everything....do you think they will pay my house payment this month? I could use a little extra, oh wait....they probably can't afford to, they will have to pay all the new car payments people can't pay from cash for clunkers......

Don't Buy It!

We have been studying Dave Ramsey at church for the last few weeks. He has soooooo much common sense it's painful. He has classes you can take, books you can read, counselors you can talk to, workbooks to fill out. But I can put exactly what he is teaching into one line......if you can't afford it, don't buy it! In other words if you can't pay (cash) for it, don't buy it!
Common Sense, go figure.

Levi Johnston

Whether you are a Sarah Palin fan or not.......Levi Johnston is way off base. He has been making remarks regarding Palins role as a mother, grandmother, politician.....He claims there was not much parenting regarding the Palin house, that Sarah was down after the election and talked about quitting politcs to write a book.....so what? Who wouldn't have been down after that election, I know I was. The thing this wanna-be actor-model kid from Wasilla needs to remember......he is the father of her grandchild. It makes him family. He needs to grow up, support the Palin family and take some responsibility in his own parenting skills....in other words, have some common sense.

Be Careful What You "Facebook"

I recently joined the world of facebook......scary. I know all the younger generation is used to it, but it feels so "out there". Such exposure. Anyway, at a CU graduation ceremony, one of the guest speakers gave the best advice I have ever heard regarding the Internet. "Don't put anything on the Internet (facebook, twitter, email, my space, etc.) that you would not want your mom, dad, grandmother or grandfather to see".......because it will come back to haunt you. It will be out there eventually for the world to see.....think about it. Common Sense, isn't it amazing?

You Know What To Do.....

Okay, if you want to be healthy and lose weight, you know what to do.
Start moving and quit eating crap! It's that easy. I have been reading this book "Younger Next Year for Women" my groovey friends Jim and Sandy gave to me......are they trying to tell me something? I'm sure they are. They are probably sick and tired of me telling them I need to get in shape and lose 20 lbs. I am sick and tired of listening to myself! This book is full of COMMON SENSE. One of the best quotes from this book, "you don't go to a whore house for conversation and you shouldn't go to Mc Donald's for a salad......do ya think? But the Big Mac and fries with that salad......I can't have that either? All the diets, books, tapes, fads, blah blah blah. Common Sense, that's all it takes. Get moving, start exercising, walking, running, no walking from the couch to the kitchen does not count, or taking out the trash, we have to MOVE! Sweat! And the eating.....I can't believe I can't lose weight???? You mean 5 hot choc. chip fake and bakes are not good for you? But they make me so happy......okay, spinlates tonight and 1 almond for lunch today.....:)

He Said a Mouthful.....

There is nothing like a good quote....I love my bro-in-law, Art. "Uncle Autie" as I like to call him. He is my political guru.....if I have a question about politics, he's the guy to ask. He had my sis send me this great quote the other day for my common sense blog.
"I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious." Thomas Jefferson in 1824. Wow, in 1824? Parasites living on the labor of the industrious? Wouldn't he be disappointed to know that not much has changed over the last 200 years? yikes! After reading that quote, I found a couple of other ones that T.J. said (seems he has lots).
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them".... you can say that again.....2009.
Also, "If God is just, I tremble for my country.........Amen Mr. Jefferson. Kind of comforting to know they had morons in the government in 1824 too. Some things never change.

Volunteer!

I have been thinking lately about "volunteering". I looked up the meaning of this most awesome word...A person who chooses freely to do or offer to do something......the type of volunteering I am talking about, I would add to that....to help others. My favorite definition is ...to freely choose to offer or give without being asked or obliged. This is important, do it from the heart. Do not expect anything in return. If everyone volunteered just a little something once in a while, what a difference it would make. It doesn't have to be money, time is huge. If everyone gave 1 hour a week, wow! Think about it......"volunteer" small word, big meaning. I'm working on it.

A Common Sense Governor!

Finally, a politician with some common sense! And the &*@#* to stand up to someone. Way to go Governor Jon Corzine of New Jersey. He is saying NO to letting Libya's Muammar al-Qaddafi "camp-out" in his state. Why? If you don't remember, Libya was responsible for the bombing of the Pan Am flight that went down in Lockerbie, Scotland years ago. 259 people were killed in the plane and 11 on the ground. In case you didn't know....38 victims were from Englewood, New Jersey. (59 were from New York). Gov. Corzine says Qaddafi can land his helicopter at the UN, do his business and get the heck out.......I love it! A Governor with common sense and a pair of &%$@*! Personally, I don't think he should be able to land anywhere in the U.S.

COMMON SENSE!

Do we really need the government to help us pick our doctors? Why is it the new administration thinks that we are unable to make any decisions on our own? I think I know that if I drink Drano, I may die.....or if I drink while pregnant, it's not a good thing. I also know when roads are wet, they are slippery! I have common sense, therefore I can choose my own doctors. I have common sense, most of us do.....it's the people who don't who need the help, choose their doctors. I can handle my own affairs thank you very much! What say you?

Political Correctness......

I talked about political correctness in my blog post the other day, and thought I should address it again. I can't help feel that by being politically correct all the time, we are not really being true to ourselves. Again I will say, we don't want to be rude or disrespectful, or seem not caring, but sometimes the truth hurts.....we are so worried about being politically correct we don't say what we really think. Our politicians are scared to stand up for what they really believe......it may not be politically correct. I say, who cares? I want a politician to say what he/she believes in. One who has the #@*!& to stand up for who he is, right or wrong, you have to respect that! More to follow.........

COMMON SENSE!

Does anyone have any common sense anymore? Why do people not see that the more you give people and the more you make them dependent on the government, the worse off they become. By taking away their dignity and drive to become better, they give up and expect the government to give them everything......it robs them of the life they deserve and convinces them that they are in need of assistance.......instead why not help them, educate them, and covince them they are capable of anything they want.
